12th Annual European Real Estate Society Conference in association with the International Real Estate Society

Dublin, Ireland, June 15-18th 2005
The 12th European Real Estate Society Annual conference is to be held June 15-18th 2005 in Dublin. The 2005 conference is also to be held in association with the International Real Estate Society (IRES). The conference provides a forum for the exchange of research in a wide range of real estate related areas. The themes of the conference cover all areas of real estate, urban economics and urban studies. The conference is being hosted by the Centre for Real Estate Research, Smurfit School of Business, University College Dublin and chaired by Dr. Simon Stevenson.
Conference Themes
The purpose of the conference is to provide an arena for an international comparison of real estate, encompassing land, commercial property, housing and mortgage markets. The themes of the conference cover all areas of real estate, urban economics and urban studies. A number of special sessions will also be held specifically examining the Irish real estate market. The conference will also include a plenary session on international real estate organised by the International Real Estate Society and keynote addresses by Professor David Ling (University of Florida) and Professor John Quigley (University of California, Berkeley).

European Real Estate Society
The European Real Estate Society (ERES) was established in 1994 to create a structured and permanent network between real estate academics and professionals across Europe. The annual conference provides an open forum for the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of research in real estate finance, economics, appraisal, investment and asset management. ERES is dedicated to promoting and advancing the field of real estate research throughout Europe. ERES is a non-profit organisation affiliated with the International Real Estate Society. The ERES conference has rapidly established itself as the leading real estate research conference in Europe and is one of the largest such events worldwide. Previous conferences have taken place in Amsterdam, Stockholm, Belfast, Berlin, Maastricht, Athens, Bordeaux, Alicante, Glasgow and Helsinki. The 2004 conference took place in Milan.
International Real Estate Society
The 2005 ERES conference is being held in association with the International Real Estate Society (IRES). IRES was established as a federation of regional real estate research socieites. In additon to ERES, the Society currently consists of the African Real Estate Society, American Real Estate Society, Asian Real Estate Society, Latin American Real Estate Society, Middle East Real Estate Society and the Pacific-Rim Real Estate Society. Each society organises an annual conference in their given region.
IRES has the mission to:
Encourage communication, co-operation, and co-ordination regarding real estate research and education on a world-wide basis
Encourage and assist in establishment of real estate education and research programs on a world-wide basis
Encourage research on international real estate topics
Encourage and facilitate faculty exchanges
IRES will be co-ordinating and organising a number of panel sessions on international issues in addition to one of the conference's plenary sessions. Centre for Real Estate Research, UCD
The Centre for Real Estate Research, UCD was established in 2002 within the Smurfit School of Business. The Centre aims to provide a focal point for real estate related research and to provide a bridge between professional and academic research. The Centre's affiliated faculty have published in leading international journals such as Journal of Housing Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research and the Journal of Property Research. The centre's affiliated faculty come from across the university, including the departments of Banking & Finance, Economics and Planning & Environmental Policy.
Smurfit School of Business, UCD
Together with the undergraduate Quinn School of Business, Smurfit School forms UCD Business Schools, which is the largest business faculty in Ireland. The school’s MBA programme is one of the oldest in Europe, established in 1964, and has consistently been ranked as one of the top twenty programmes in Europe by the Financial Times. The school is one of only 12 worldwide to have been awarded the three major international business school accreditations: AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA. The school is also a member of CEMS, the Community of European Management Schools.
